Ok, dave, i'm no economics major, and i'll be the first to admit that i don't know all of the ins and outs of the oil industry, but here's a couple of suggestions.
1. Subsidize oil
2. Utilize the oil reserves (intelligently)
3. Close the fuckin deal on the Alaskan oil (b/c we simply don't use it)
4. Build a damn refinery in the U.S.
5. Have some governmental (notice the use of the word some, dave) control over the price of gas
6. Acknowledge that the gas companies are price gouging
just a couple suggestions, but i have an open mind and i think any thing that works towards a solution is at least plausible.
